FCC Seeks USAC Board of Directors Nomination for Vacant Position
The Federal Communications Commission’s Wireline Competition Bureau (Bureau) seeks nominations for a position on the Board of Directors of the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) representing commercial mobile radio service providers (position formerly held by Matt B. Gerst). All nominations must be filed with the Office of the Secretary by November 8, 2021.
FCC Expands Emergency Broadband Benefit Program Eligibility
The Wireline Competition Bureau announced that it will expand the school years that will be acceptable for eligibility determination purposes for the Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) Program. As a result of this change, households that can demonstrate participation in the free and reduced price school lunch program or school breakfast program for the 2021-2022 school year will now be eligible for the benefit.

FCC Seeks Comment on Broadband Access in Multi-Tenant Buildings
The Federal Communications Commission is inviting a new round of comments in a proceeding examining competitive access to broadband in apartment and office buildings. The new call for comments aims to better understand how the FCC can promote increased competition, consumer choice, and lower prices for Americans living and working in these buildings. The Wireline Competition Bureau is seeking comment on three main issues related to broadband deployment in Multiple Tenant Environment (MTE) buildings.

Almost half a million cable, broadband, and voice subscribers are not being provided service in the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Ida according to the Federal Communications Commission. The number of those not able to access service is even greater given the more than a million without power. Louisiana has the vast majority of subscribers without either phone, TV or internet access, or a combination of those, at 468,674.
