Benton Institute Applauds NTIA's Letter of Credit Waiver

Earlier today, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration released a Notice of Programmatic Waiver of the letter of credit obligation for the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program. The following may be attributed to Benton Institute for Broadband & Society Executive Director Adrianne B. Furniss:

"The Benton Institute is thankful that NTIA has taken action to ensure broadband service providers of all types—but especially, small, local providers—can compete to build networks where they are needed most. Universal broadband is an all-of-nation effort and today's action by the NTIA means that all broadband providers can participate in this historic investment to connect everyone everywhere."

The Benton Institute for Broadband & Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that all people in the U.S. have access to competitive, High-Performance Broadband regardless of where they live or who they are. We believe communication policy - rooted in the values of access, equity, and diversity - has the power to deliver new opportunities and strengthen communities.
