Google has accused the movie industry’s trade body of mounting a secret campaign to censor the Internet, in a revival of the tensions that flared up between Silicon Valley and Hollywood over a proposed US anti-piracy law three years ago. It also alleged that the body, the Motion Picture Association of America, was behind an attack on the company by Attorney General Jim Hood (D-MS), using its own law firm to draft a critical letter that was sent under Hood’s name. The claims brought a fierce rejection from AG Hood, who said Google was deliberately trying to obscure wider concerns that he and other state attorneys-general had raised about its practices.
