Broadband over Power Lines Briefing

Dr. Francis Koster of Nemours Children's Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, will be in Washington December 5th to provide NTIA a briefing on the Clinic's use of Broadband over Power Lines (BPL) to monitor chronically ill children in their homes.

Nemours received a grant from NTIA to develop a project using BPL to deliver interactive, real-time remote home monitoring services to children with asthma. An integral component of the project is that e-visit biometrics become an automatic part of the Nemours Electronic Medical Records for use by physicians and nurses.

This demonstration project is a collaboration between Nemours (one of the nation's largest pediatric sub-specialty group practices) and the Jacksonville Electric District (the 8th largest municipal electric, water and sewer utility in the U.S.).

Given NTIA's policy work with BPL, as well as our ongoing interest in the application of telecommunications and information technology in American life, OTIA would like to invite you to hear Dr. Koster.

Bring your coffee/coke/water etc. and we will supply the donuts.

Date: Monday, December 5th
Time: 10:00 AM
Location: HCHB Room 1412
